Chamber music through the ages

What is chamber music and what makes it different from orchestral music? And why do people often find it more difficult to appreciate? What should we be listening out for? Beginning with Haydn in the 18th century we will trace the development of chamber music over 250 years through a diverse range of composers such as Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Dvorak, Debussy, Bartok, Villa Lobos and Maxwell Davies.
